Ansty Ladies play in Stoner League Div IV

This year we fielded our 1st XI in a one off game in the Stoner Cricket League Divison IV against. Ansty   Cricket   Club   playing   cricket   in   the   Stoner   Mid-Sussex   League   played   an   all   female   team against   opponents   Streat   and   Westmeston   on   Saturday   15th   August.   The   club   provide   cricket   for four   teams   on   a   Saturday   afternoon   with   two   playing   Sussex   Premier   Cricket   League   matches   and two playing Stoner Mid-Sussex Cricket League matches. It   was   our   third   XI   that   provided   a   unique   opportunity   for   the   ladies   as   a   considerable   number   of players   were   unavailable   for   various   reasons.   Our   hosts   for   the   match   received   the   team   with   a positive response and the match was played in good spirit to finally end in a draw. A brief match report is below Due   to   a   very   large   number   of   unavailable   players   within   the   club,   the   third   XI   fielded   an   all ladies   team   to   face   Streat   &   Westmeston.   This   was   a   first   for   the   club   although   previously   6 players of the3rd XI team had featured young ladies. Winning   the   toss   Ansty   were   asked   to   bat   on   a   wicket   that   looked   a   little   green   after   the   rain during   the   week.   Lucy   Western   and   Megan   Janman   opened,   putting   on   17   for   the   first   wicket   that of   Janman   for   9.   Abbey   Freeborn   (21)   joined   Western   and   this   pair   added   a   further   40   for   the second   wicket.   Western   was   caught   off   the   bowling   of   Stan   Spiegel   for   36.      Sofie   Cawley   added 34   in   her   innings   with   Ellen   Burt   (22)   and   Ellie   Monk   being   not   out   on   21   as Ansty's   innings   closed on 186-7. John Hawkins bowled throughout the innings with figures of 23-9-45-5. Streat   and   Westmeston's   reply   started   steadily   with   a   65   run   partnership   between   Nigel   Butler and Alex   Kirkbride   that   ended   with   Butler   being   bowled   by   Megan   Janman   for   18.   William   Baxter joined   Kirkbride   and   this   pair   added   a   further   23   for   the   third   wicket   when   Kirkbride   was   bowled by   Sofie   Cawley   for   47.Colin   Baxter   was   caught   by   Sophie   Huyton-Taylor   for   21   off   the   bowling   of Ellie   Monk   with   the   score   on   133      Baxter   went   on   to   37no   as   the   match   ended   in   a   draw.   Ellie Monk finished with figures of 12-2-34-2.

Sussex Women Cricket Association Finals Day

This year we had three teams playing in finals days, U11, U13 Pairs, & Ladies T20 Development The   Under   11’s   were   up   first   and   came   a   very   close   second   in   an   excellent   match!   The   Ladies   then   played Brighton   &   Hove   and   the   game   ended   in   a   draw   so   they   played   a   “Super   Over”,   which   our   girls   managed   to   win. Finally   the   U13’s   finished   level   at   the   end   of   their   game   but   lost   as   we   lost   more   wickets   than   St   Peters.   An excellent   day   out   and   a   great   end   to   another   season!!   Well   done   to   all   the   teams   involved   in   the   day,   and   role   on April!!!
